Adele has already sold 2.3 million copies of disc
After learning of the news, the group’s Lance Bass took to Twitter to congratulate her, saying, “We officially say Bye Bye Bye as @Adele says Hello to the World Record of Most Albums Sold In a Single Week”. Nielsen Music said that “25”, released on Friday, would by late Monday match the record of 2.41 million sales in a first week set in 2000 by Justin Timberlake’s boy band NSYNC. It is set to reach half a million copies sold by the end of the week, according to Official Charts Company figures. As Billboard notes, that’s just ahead of *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which sold 2,416,000 copies during the week that ended on March 26, 2000. That was offset by growth in subscription streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer, which let fans stream as much music as they want, usually for about $10 a month. The song has been No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart for four consecutive weeks.

This is the point where Taylor Swift succeeded as a brand, but Adele succeeded as a market. But her success likely owes more to the fact that Adele is a rare artist whose appeal crosses genres and fan demographics. Her album “21” was best known for the tear-jerker “Someone Like You”.
Our top photos from the last 24 hours. The “Frozen” soundtrack was close behind “1989”, selling 3.53 million. Before Adele changed the rankings, “N Sync also came in at number two with the amount of albums sold in a week for their album “Celebrity”, which came out in 2001″.
Of course her awesome voice and emotionally-charged songs are major factors but what else makes Adele so successful with her albums when she only started out by sharing her music in MySpace before finally landing a record deal in 2006?
