Prime Minister Narendra Modi rounded off his two-day state visit to Singapore by weaving his charm with theIndian Diaspora, which forms approximately nine percent of the city-state’s total population, in Hall Number One and Two of the Singapore Expo venue.
“We will take immediate action to recognise more Indian degree”, Najib said.
Najib also pointed out that many Malaysians had received their education in India particularly in medicine.
“Prime Minister also said that Singapore can contribute a lot in urban development in India”.
The agreement on infrastructure development is aimed at strengthening, promoting and developing cooperation in the areas of performance management, monitoring related to government programmes to enhance public service delivery, improve efficiency of implementation methods and procedure and develop templates and tools to monitor performance of government programmes.
Modi’s visit also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and India this year, and underscores the excellent and longstanding ties between the two countries.
Lee said Singapore’s Indian pioneers include G. Sarangapany, who came here from Tamil Nadu in 1924.
Leaders of the two countries also witnessed the signing of other agreements which further bilateral cooperation in the areas of defence, cyber security, anti-drug trafficking, humanitarian assistance as well as disaster relief.
On his last day of his visit at the global hub of commerce and trade, Mr Modi said Singapore is an essential ally in India’s Look East Policy. “Thank you @leehsienloong”, Modi tweeted along with the picture of the two having dinner. “Asia’s economic lion is to be found here – in Singapore”, he said.
“He aspires to develop India in the construction of new infrastructures such as smart city, railway and highway pro-jects, solar energy and digital India”, Najib said. “And, no partner is likely to play as big a role in India’s transformation as Japan”.
