He started the show by performing his opening monologue in front of a galaxy of stars, during which he joked, “Americans know more about Star Wars than we do actual wars”.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first Star Wars movie made without Lucas’ involvement, will arrive in cinemas on December 17th.

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is set for release worldwide on December 18.

To keep in sync, special experiences have been added to Google Calendar, Chrome, Chromecast, Android Wear Watches, Google Now, YouTube.

This is not just about getting to view a movie in a virtual reality headset, this is about actually experiencing what it is to be on the Dark Side or Light Side.

Disney’s partnership with Google for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie is continuing apace, with VR content to be released soon.

You can use your mouse to scroll up and down to visit Star Wars related sites, including the brilliantly-named “Wookieepedia”. So I’m thrilled beyond words [to be involved] and terrified more than I can say.

Google’s recently launched Star Wars site lets you choose between the two sides of the Force and alters the appearances of apps based on your choice.

“Star Wars” is expected to drive $2 billion in retail sales through the end of the year.
