India and Malaysia sign cyber-security pact

Earlier on Tuesday, Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Istana following which he met Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Modi said Singapore is the second-largest source of FDI for India.

The Ministry of Federal Territories, in a statement today said the Indian government absorbed the entire cost of the Gate’s construction.

The two sides have also agreed to further their bilateral relation, cooperating in the areas of arts, heritage, archives and library, operationalising the existing technical agreement on sharing white shipping and cooperating in cyber security with the SingCERT (Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team) and CERT-In (the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team).

Modi’s visit also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and India this year, and underscores the excellent and longstanding ties between the two countries. “We are quite eager to work with Singapore in this regard”, Mr Modi said. “We have taken very decisive steps to remove numerous long-pending concerns”, Modi said.

India and Malaysia signed three agreements on cyber-security, cultural exchange and infrastructure development on Monday, the third day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to this southeast Asian nation.

Without making any direct reference to the stand off between some countries of South-East Asia and China in South China sea, Modi said, “The most critical need in this region was to uphold and strengthen the rules and norms that must define the collective behavior of the nations”.

Ending his trip to Malaysia and Singapore, Modi left for India on Tuesday.

Speaking at the India Singapore Economic Convention here, Modi said India is exploring a potential partnership with Singapore’s Changi Airport for developments of two Indian airports and invited companies here to join in building smart cities.

“That is why we are moving on many fronts at the same time, aware of the linkages that make up a comprehensive strategy”. Singapore is the top destination for Indian Investment.

Singapore is the 10th largest trade partner of India globally and 2nd largest among ASEAN countries. “I look forward to work with Singapore in a bigger way”.

The Indian PM said that India’s entry into the uranium supply arrangement was a sign of growing trust. We are working hard so that the benefits reach common man. India is now the next frontier of economic revolution. “We must delink terrorism from religion, and assert the human values that define every faith”, he added.
