After 11 weeks of competition, the Season 21 champions of “Dancing with the Stars” have been named.
Bindi Irwin was crying.
She technically wasn’t a celebrity per se, but the daughter of the late great Steve Irwin, the Australian animal wildlife expert who was known as the “Crocodile Hunter” but died in a tragic accident in 2006 after being pierced by a stingray. They were one of the highest scorers in Week 1. (She certainly wasn’t the only one.) The routine scored three ideal 10s.
Now she’s made it to the final round, and her freestyle dance with partner Derek Hough did not disappoint. She has a sunny personality, and is apparently so goshdarned lovable that the judges and everyone else on the show can’t stop saying how wonderful she is.
Even Wetpaint reports that in spite of Nick Carter and Bindi Irwin scoring the lowest score in semi-finals last week, Carlos PenaVega or Alek Skarlatos are likely to be eliminated in the finals.
Irwin, who like her her father Steve Irwin works as a conservationist and a TV presenter, has been impressing audiences with her dancing flair during the past three months.
After they were named the winners, Bindi and Derek could barely contain their excitement. The idea to show the two during the climax was actually Derek Hough’s idea. Meanwhile, Just Jared polls suggest that Bindi Irwin has 67% prediction votes of total votes.
Predictable as the 17-year-old’s mirror ball victory was, it was only right.
Just kidding. Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough swept that thing, as we always knew they would.
If the first part of the two-night finale is any indication, Irwin is certainly in the running to claim the coveted Mirror Ball trophy for herself. At the end, she broke down in his arms and said, “I love you, thank you”.
