Jamie Vardy and Ruud van Nistelrooy – but who else holds Premier

The 28 year old has been the subject of a Premier League fairy tale. The game against City was a ideal example of the chemistry between the two Brazilians and their ability to terrorize any defense in the Premier League, with City undoubtedly feeling lucky getting away with only conceding 4 goals at the end of the day.

Leicester’s Swansea game looks a winnable fixture from the outside; the fact the Foxes haven’t lost away from home this season makes it easier to consider the result a foregone conclusion, but stranger things happen in the Premier League, as exemplified by Leicester this season.

We picked the Leicester City as relegation favorites at the start of the season. Form that would have any fan planning next season’s trips to other Championship clubs. But this was a miracle. It signified one of the greatest escapes in Premier League history.

But City are two points behind leaders Leicester at the top of the league and have had a mixed season so far with some glorious wins and abject defeats.

Jamie Vardy says it is “a joy” to play in the current Leicester side – and insists his team-mates deserve credit for his goalscoring run.

Jamie Vardy scored for the 10th Premier League game in a row, which matched the achievement of Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2003. “Incredible. If that was in Catalonia, there’d be a few people there and the families of the players”.

If Vardy’s form can continue it will represent a headache for Roy Hodgson, albeit a good one to have.

Tottenham have a very young side with a number of England internationals such as Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Ryan Mason. What does the future have in store for Vardy?

Vardy has also been called up to the English National Team on several occasions, but has yet to record a goal on the global stage. He’s going to get marked tighter and he’ll have less space.

Not that we can suddenly look down on the other teams patronisingly; we are as inconsistent as them, if not more so. It is merely now a question of whether Vardy can maintain his form until next summer and then transfer it onto one of the biggest stages in World football.

“The bottom teams are stronger in the Premier League but at the top Real Madrid and Barcelona are top teams”, he said.

Another gameweek has passed and managers had to wait an extra week this time around with the arrival of yet another terrible worldwide break- a nightmare for every FPL manager out there – although this weekend proved to be worth waiting; packed with lots of goals and action. At what point do you start saying they’re contenders for a top-four place?

Leicester City being at the top of the league at the end of November has shaken everything up, but there have been really strong showings from Tottenham and Liverpool, who are building a bit of momentum under Jurgen Klopp.
