For the second year in a row, former New England Patriots cornerback Ty Law has been named a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The group of 25 semifinalists was announced Tuesday by the Canton, Ohio, shrine.
The other 19 modern-era semifinalists are kicker Morten Anderson, safeties John Lynch and Steve Atwater, tackles Orlando Pace, Joe Jacoby, Mike Kenn and Tony Boselli, receivers Marvin Harrison, Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce, running backs Edgerrin James, Roger Craig and Terrell Davis, coaches Jimmy Johnson and Don Coryell, quarterback Kurt Warner, linebackers Sam Mills and Karl Mecklenburg and center/guard Kevin Mawae. The 2016 contributor candidate is former 49ers owner Edward DeBartolo, Jr. The list will be further reduced to 15 in January, while the final decisions will be made on January 31st, prior to Super Bowl 50.
Favre, of course, is the headliner. Following 16 seasons with the Packers, he finished up with a year in NY (Jets) and two years with the Minnesota Vikings.
The three-time MVP retired with 508 touchdown passes, 71,838 passing yards and 186 National Football League victories. He was a member of the Super Bowl XL Championship team, and was selected to nine Pro Bowls. He also was known for feuds with his quarterbacks, many of whom he felt didn’t target him enough. He anchored Pittsburgh’s offensive line for a decade, winning a Super Bowl. He’s reached the finalist portion each of the past two years.

Law, who was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2014, was also a semifinalist a year ago. In all, the group of semifinalists includes 22 players (15 offense, 6 on defense and 1 special teams) and three coaches. “NFL Honors” will be taped earlier that evening at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco from 8-10 p.m. (ET) when the 2016 Hall of Fame class will be introduced for the first time.
