Adele’s new album 25 reportedly won’t be available for streaming

British singer Adele’s much-anticipated album 25 will not be available for streaming on any digital music services, including Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer, the companies said on Thursday.

With the move, Adele becomes the most high-profile holdout from streaming since Taylor Swift, who pulled her catalog off Spotify previous year as she released her blockbuster album “1989”.

The singer has decided she will not release the album on streaming networks however and you will have to go and hand over your hard-earned cash for an album of heartbreaking ballads. “We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy “25” on Spotify alongside “19” and “21” very soon”, said Spotify’s statement.

A spokesman for Adele declined to comment. The link has since been removed; however, there were some news sites including ITV News that got an access to the album through the said link.

With Adele’s decision, this would be the third consecutive year that the streaming services have been deprived of the year’s biggest music sensation. Not bad for four years work. The news came as massive disappointment to Adele fans who had hoped to able to stream via Apple’s platform. It is the singer’s first batch of new songs since 2011′s smash hit album “21”.

The growth of streaming services hasn’t stopped the world’s most popular artists from spurning them when releasing new albums. Billboard is reporting that the album will ship 3.6 million physical copies in the United States, and that it could sell 2.5 million units in the United States in its first week.

“25” being held back from streaming isn’t a surprise: what will be far more interesting will be how soon the album makes its way on to Spotify, Apple Music and rivals.

Hello, it’s me. I’ve thought about us and it would be sweet if I could stream this album or have it free. The 27-year-old has audiences from seemingly all ages and as such, today’s generation has always wonted to grab free music, whether through streaming or illegal downloads. The release follows record-breaking downloads and views for the first single ‘Hello, ‘ released in October.
