Bindi also expressed how the show changed her life as tears falling from her eyes. I can’t believe I’m here.
“Thank you so much for everything”, Irwin said.
The freestyle dances during the last episode of “DWTS” always separate the good from the great, and Bindi & Derek proved why they deserved to win Season 21 with their emotional, stripped down performance on November 23. At the same time, Gold Derby predicts the 17-year-old contestant has 74% predictions votes with 4/11 odds in favour of her winning the finals. Julianne Hough praised Bindi’s joy and consistency, and Tonioli called her a dancing delight. With the song “Footprints in the Sand” as accompaniment, Irwin was totally in the zone with Hough, and it is really incredible to watch considering she’s not a professional dancer.
Audiences were entertained during the two-hour finale with performances by Alexander Jean, Andy Grammer, Chaka Khan, Elle King and the Mirrorball Trophy victor himself. She won over Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, who landed in second place.
All three stars danced a 24-hour fusion challenge to win over the judges, and yep – each of them earned a near ideal score. She’s been chosen by the judges. In the meantime, it will be the sixth time Derek Hough will be taking home the Mirror Ball trophy.
“I’ve been watching the show from the United Kingdom and I must say, everyone has been doing a fantastic job”, Len Goodman, who has been a judge on the series since the show first premiered in 2005, said in a holiday message. Bindi, the daughter of late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin captured the heart of all the judges and fans from the very start.
Talking about feeling her father’s spirit with her as she danced, Bindi Irwin said “Sometimes in rehearsals it feels like there’s three people in the room, I do feel as if dad is still with me everyday”.
