Newcastle players as unhappy as fans – Cisse
Papiss Cisse insists Newcastle United’s players are just as unhappy at the club’s turgid form as the supporters.

The Newcastle United board are set to give under-fire manager Steve McClaren their “full backing” after a tough start to the season which sees them hovering just a point above the Premier League relegation zone after 13 games of the season. The Dutchman, who spent ten years at the club as a player, was appointed head coach in January 2014 but then was sacked in June of the same year.
Next up for Newcastle is an away match against Crystal Palace followed by a home game against Liverpool so things are not going to get any easy for McClaren or his players any time soon.
Cisse – who netted in a 1-1 draw between the two sides at Selhurst Park last season – is pushing for a recall to the starting XI with McClaren admitting he may leave out Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The club’s scouting priorities have also been shifted as they look for players with Premier League experience, although they are also searching for players in the lower leagues with the hunger and determination to succeed at the top level.
Newcastle slumped to a 3-0 defeat to table-topping Leicester on Saturday and McClaren is reported to have pointed the finger at some of his players amid their return to training. “The players understand that, because we did not play well”.
The 26-year-old scored a goal every three games in Holland and, in total, found the back of the net 57 times whilst with Ajax.
“All through the week we try to work hard on the training ground to get a result on a Saturday and win the game, but, for me, Leicester were the better team”.
