Obama Briefs Public on National Security
Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, Obama said it was understandable that Americans might be nervous following the November 13 attacks in Paris, which killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more. “Otherwise, Americans should go about their usual Thanksgiving weekend activities, spending time with families and friends and celebrating our blessings”.

The president said we know of no specific plot targeting the United States.
President Obama and national security aides are bracing for Thanksgiving with a series of meetings devoted to blocking terrorist threats from the Islamic State. He said that if there were to be a credible threat, the public will be informed.
“All of us recognize how horrific and heinous what took place in Paris was”, Obama said. He said Homeland Security is working diligently to keep it that way.
Obama said the USA will more quickly share threat information with France going forward, and he called on the European Union to require airlines to share passenger information, CBS News.
On Tuesday, Obama met with French President Francois Hollande to discuss a global strategy to counter the Islamic State.

The president again expressed solidarity with the people of Paris, and said the United States would work to bring the killers to justice. Given the shocking images, Americans are asking each other whether it is safe here, whether it is safe to fly or gather.
