In a statement sent to various media outlets, the White House noted that US Vice President Joe Biden’s meeting with Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif was a follow up to a breakfast meeting he had with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Washington on Oct 22. He also discussed Pakistan’s strained ties with India, military cooperation, strategic (nuclear) issues and other regional matters.

Pakistan was quick to point out that the USA praised the Pakistan’s counter terrorism initiatives, with director general of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Asim Bajwa taking to Twitter to reiterate this takeaway.
Pakistan and the U.S., however, have not set any time-frame for getting back on track with the talks process, which was disrupted after disclosure of Taliban chief Mullah Omar’s death days before Islamabad was set to host the second round of reconciliation dialogue.
