The Royal Borough of Windsor announced in a release that the event “will be a celebration of the Queen’s life, her love of horses, her dedication to the Commonwealth and worldwide affairs and her deep involvement with the Navy, Army and Air Force”.

Tickets to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday celebrations sold out within hours yesterday as Buckingham Palace promised four days of pageantry “fit for the queen” including dancing and horse shows.

Members of the Royal Family will attend the event each night with the Queen in attendance for the grand finale on 15 May with a live broadcast on ITV.

Tickets cost £55-£195. Visit: www.hmq90.co.uk or call 0844 581 0755. Top price tickets start at £165, which includes access to the Guard Chamber, which is adjacent to the Royal Enclosure and includes access to a restaurant, bar and lounge area. We’re especially delighted with our plans to offer an extra 5,000 people the chance to be part of the celebrations through our balloted system for (pre-show) tickets on The Long Walk.

Some 5,000 free tickets will be available which will allow guests to see celebrities arriving on the red carpet and to watch the final performance on giant screens with the castle in the backdrop. Details will be announced early next year. And JSYK, the Queen turns 90 on April 21.

“We’ve had an overwhelming response from the public for tickets to celebrate The Queen’s 90 Birthday and we aren’t surprised at how quickly they have sold out”, said The Ticket Factory’s managing director Stuart Cain.

The celebration is being coordinated by the same team that organised the successful Diamond Jubilee Pageant in Windsor in 2012, and publisher St James’s House has been appointed to produce the event’s official commemorative album which will be the only publication sanctioned and endorsed by the organisers.
