WorldStage Newsonline- Nigeria has called for more cooperation and coordination among members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), assuring of its continuous support as it struggles to surmount the challenges that the global oil and gas industry is facing. Iran, while having quite prodigious gas reserves, still lacks many critical factors that would enable it to almost double its production.
“Nigeria is among the world’s top five exporters of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and we recently celebrated the 3000th export cargo milestone”.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday arrived in Tehran, Iran, to participate in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit on Monday.
A joint Declaration is expected to be adopted following the summit.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Venezuela are friends and will do their utmost in favor of their nations’ economic development and welfare”, the Iranian president told visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
“A meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled, this will be the third meeting this year”.
“President Buhari and the leaders of Iran, Russia, Qatar, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Oman, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Bolivia and other member-countries of the GECF are expected to review the current market outlook on gas and discuss strategies for boosting gas production during their meeting in Tehran”, the statement read.
“There are requests about the meetings, in particular, from the Bolivian president and the Venezuelan president”.
The Tehran Gas Exporting Countries Forum will be held from November 21 to November 23.
