On Tuesday, Google successfully transported a driver-in a driverless Lexus RX-down Riverside Drive to successfully complete yet another incredible road test with the new autonomous vehicles. It seems they were suitably impressed as Google has apparently cleared the testing with the city’s governor, the Department of Transportation, police and other authorities.

But the cars that would hit Austin’s roads will still be equipped with a steering wheel and pedals so that a human operator can intervene at any moment in case of impending disaster, the company noted.

Google’s self-driving cars have taken to the streets of Austin. They have take all the safety measures, states a spokesperson. A vehicle approaching from behind collided with the rear bumper of the Google AV. Google did not say exactly where the driverless cars would be tested.

Automating the task of driving has become a key effort by both technology and auto companies alike in the past few years. “There could be some differences in driver/pedestrian/bicyclist behavior. We know that Austinites are going to give us their feedback”. The autonomous vehicles have been roaming the streets of Austin since last month.

Then there are some of the Google self-driving cars that look like the head of a robot that has fallen off and started driving around dubbed pod cars by many cruising in California. Google’s self-driving vehicle has arrived in Texas.

Several bills, all of which failed in the most recent legislative session, would have encouraged the use of self-driving technology while instituting some state regulations. Google opposed the bill but refused to provide a public explanation for its opposition. Since the company began testing autonomous vehicles in the year 2009, Google’s cars have been involved in “14 “minor” accidents”. “We’re still learning how the technology might be used”.
