NFL System Failed Case Keenum
Fisher said team doctors and trainers were involved in a conference call Tuesday night to discuss possible tweaks to the system.

After last week’s mistakes in letting Rams quarterback Case Keenum continue to play after he suffered a concussion, the National Football League is trying to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
In response to Harbaugh’s comment Monday suggesting that the Rams are regular participants in extracurricular activity, Fisher said the Ravens “need to take a look in the mirror” on his weekly ESPN 101 radio show. “That’s why the officiating department was not notified”, Fisher said.
The Rams quarterback stayed in Sunday’s game after showing the effects of his head being slammed to the turf on St. Louis’ final drive.
Haven’t we heard a few thousand times that taking the word of players, when asking if they can keep playing, is not advisable?
“I didn’t see anything from my vantage point on the sideline as far as Case’s slow recovery – the shots that you’ve seen where he got up slow, the shots that we’ve seen out there”. Because of that, we’ll simulate the game with Keenum starting. “Then I’ve got plays I’ve got to send the league office where their players are hitting us in the mouth after plays”. He was a little high on an incomplete pass intended for Wes Welker the play and was looking for potential receivers when poor blocking by left tackle Greg Robinson led to a sack/strip by Courtney Upshaw that set up the game-winning field goal by the Ravens Justin Tucker in a 16-13 loss.Anytime you implement something, there are things you have to work through, Fisher said. But in game-management mode, with one timeout in a tied score with a minute on the clock, Keenum’s health slipped through the cracks… even while backup quarterback Nick Foles began warming up after Keenum went down. But in the end, the referee is still empowered, too, to stop the game. Coach Jeff Fisher said he was optimistic, but would know more Friday about Keenum’s availability.

Keenum continued to play after showing obvious signs he’d suffered a head injury, leading to criticism of how the situation was handled by the Rams and the NFL. After the game, Keenum was diagnosed with a concussion, USA Today Sports reported. After Keenum was sacked, Reynolds was the first teammate to get to Keenum, and he tried to help the quarterback to his feet. He walked toward the sideline where head trainer Reggie Scott spoke to him, and then Scott was told to leave the field by the officials. Head coach Jeff Fisher said, “He’s doing well”. The concussion did not appear to affect Keenums play in the final sequence.
