Yup, be prepared for Star Wars surprises in your Gmail, Maps, Calendar, Chrome and more with Google’s first theme to extend across multiple products.
But there’s something they didn’t announce.
Google has (belatedly) come to the party, with a new plug-in letting you “awaken the force within” – basically, to bring Star Wars into every facet of your online life. “What if Google Translate could decipher galactic languages?’… and on and on and on”, Google vp product management Clay Bavor wrote in an introductory blogpost about the promotional campaign.
To restore the earlier settings, simply click on the “Back to Default” option on the page that asks for choosing sides.
In order to make this easter egg appear, type “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away” in the Google Search bar on a phone, tablet, or desktop computer. Lucky for us, today’s Star Wars easter egg is a lot more fun.
These include transforming Google Maps to include either Tie Fighters or the iconic Millennium Falcon.
