California job growth continues five-year recovery
The unemployment rate in Solano County increased slightly for October, one of several months to experience an uptick during a year that has seen a steady decline in jobless figures, according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department. Utah’s unemployment rate is 3.6 percent, and Idaho’s is 4 percent.

North Carolina’s unemployment rate fell in October from September and employers continued to add jobs, a sign the state’s economy continues to improve as the end of 2015 draws near.
The federal survey of households, done with a smaller sample than the survey of employers, shows an increase in the number of employed people. The San Joaquin County unemployment rate climbed to 8.1 percent from last month’s 7.4 percent.
Twenty-five states and the District of Columbia had statistically significant unemployment rate declines from October 2014, the largest of which occurred in Rhode Island (-1.7 percentage points) and MI (-1.6 points). The Fed has twin goals of full employment and steady prices, and last month’s jobs report may have given some Fed officials more confidence that their mandate can be reached.
In some positive news for the U.S. economy, it was reported that the fewer Americans sought unemployment benefits last week which made many analysts believe that companies continue to remain confident about the economy so as to hold onto their workers. Trade, transportation and utilities posted the month’s largest gain, adding 3,900 jobs. Since Scott took office at the start of 2011, the unemployment rate has dropped 5.6 percent. “We had our best month for job growth in ten years, and the unemployment rate fell again”.
In October, the Midwest had the lowest regional unemployment rate, 4.5 percent, while the West had the highest rate, 5.5 percent. The total reflects a year-over-year growth of 2.7%, or by 41,000 jobs.
Over the past 12 months, the number of nonfarm jobs has risen by 91,000.

Service providing industries led the state’s October job gains with the addition of 12,400 jobs in leisure and hospitality and 3,300 positions in the professional and business services industry.
