Aldi win Christmas advert battle with spoof John Lewis advert

The tongue in cheek homage to the department store’s annual tearjerker features the budget chain’s own man on the moon, sitting on a bench with two telescopes.

He later says as he looks through the value for money telescope: “But I’m over the moon with this one”.

Aldi have released a spoof version of that tear-jerking John Lewis Man on the Moon ad and this time people are crying laughing.

“And I like this one”, he adds about the Aldi version, which costs just £69.99.

The best bit of the ad is obviously the revival of Jean, from the 2011 Aldi advert, who’s there to put a smile on the Man On The Moon’s face by becoming his lady friend.

The ad opens with the gentleman comparing the price of telescopes at John Lewis and Aldi, before he is cheered even more by the sight of Jean flying across the sky in an armchair held aloft by a bunch of balloons.

“We’re confident our customers will be excited by her return this Christmas”.

Jean Jones, who became a TV sensation in 2011 after declaring her love of gin in an advert for Aldi, has made a return to our screens in time for Christmas.

The ad will be aired tonight during a commercial break in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! and Channel Four’s Supervets, and will air again tomorrow.

Retailer Aldi Christmas advert also has a lonely old man on the moon who bears a striking resemblance to the star of the John Lewis
