An incident that left Wisconsin running back Corey Clement with an injured hand two weeks ago has resulted in two citations of disorderly conduct for Clement, and the school is backtracking from a statement it released at the time.

In a statement from Wisconsin Athletics on November 12, Clement returned to his apartment building in the early hours of November 8 and intervened in a “verbal dispute” between a group of people and a security guard.

Football: Corey Clement involved in off-campus altercation, cuts handThe nightmare season of 2015 continues for Wisconsin football running back Corey Clement.

Clement instigated the fight with several individuals and threw the first punch November 8 at his off-campus apartment.

The others cited in the incident for Disorderly Conduct are: Kevin Ha, Pa Nyia Xiong, and Botmonyroth Men.

UW released another statement Wednesday regarding the incident and the false information included in its previous release.

UW released another statement after details from the MPD report surfaced. He made this statement when one of the two men cited along with Clement, identified as Botmonyroth Men, 21, asked why Clement had been portrayed as acting in self-defense in media accounts published a few days after the incident.

But this season hasn’t turned out as Clement anticipated after he had sports hernia surgery in September.

“I told Clement that a review of the video showed that his assertion that he was defending himself was not reflected in the video”, Peterson says in the report. “When we first became aware of this incident, we knew this was a possibility”, the release said.

Lucas said in his email to the AP on Wednesday that the news release was based on information university officials had at the time, and that “further details on the incident have come to light”. He was slated to play an integral role in the Badgers’ offense, taking over for Melvin Gordon as the No. 1 running back. He is coming off a game at Northwestern where he rushed for only 24 yards on 10 carries (albeit he did score a touchdown).
