Buckeyes’ Elliott sorry for outburst, but not for what he said

He said he was caught up in emotions and pointed out he is not leaving for the National Football League after this season because of that game.

The Spartans completely dominated on both sides of the ball, totaling 294 yards of total offense and holding the Buckeyes’ offense to just 132 total yards. “I think it came off a little harsh and people kind of quoted him and made it sound worse than it is, but Zeke is one of the main reasons we won it all a year ago”. There are simply too many other deserving teams to get in over a slew of two-loss B1G East teams, and a one-loss Iowa.

“This is just in the locker room”, Meyer said. And somehow, Mark Dantonio’s team was able to hand the Buckeyes their first loss of the season, and Urban Meyer’s first ever regular season Big Ten loss, after Michael Geiger kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired to give Michigan State a 17-14 win. “We do not condone that”, Meyer said during his weekly news conference Monday. “School’s out, they’re all anxious about where they’re going to go eat, their families, there’s a bunch of young players on the team so making sure we have a plan and that it doesn’t become a distraction”.

So I asked Harbaugh, “Is it possible for the man who coaches the Buckeyes to look the man who coaches the Wolverines in the eye, with respect?” But he also made clear, to borrow from Keyshawn Johnson, that he still wanted the damn ball.

At his Monday press conference, coach Urban Meyer said Elliott would not face discipline for criticizing the Buckeyes’ play calling in a stunning 17-14 loss to MI State on Saturday. With all the luxuries of speed, excess quarterbacks and risky weapons at his disposal, the coaching staff has failed to fully maximize the talent it’s collected.

Meyer said that he will not punish Elliott.

Elliott apologized for his postgame comments on Twitter, ones in which he openly questioned Ohio State’s play-calling and let his intentions for the NFL Draft be known. “It may have been wrong at the moment, but it was what he felt like he needed to say”.

– Minnesota ended a four-game losing streak against IL as the Gophers defeated the Fighting Illini 32-23. But there’s a synch and flow that’s showed up precious few times.

Meyer said he will be more involved in the play-calling at MI, but he knows there are no easy answers. “There’s a variety of things”.

“Any time you lose a game, you think maybe they’re not playing for what they were playing for”, Meyer said. And this is after such a dismal and unimaginative offensive performance on Saturday that even Jim Tressel probably changed the channel. Whether it was the loss of offensive coordinator Tom Herman, the quarterback shuffle or a combination of factors, Ohio State has never fully recovered its offensive mojo this season. Still, Meyer added that the timing of Elliott’s comments were an issue.

Ohio State stung top-ranked Iowa 22-13 on Nov.2, 1985. Michigan’s nine wins this season are more than every year but one since Lloyd Carr retired in 2007. But some of that is Ohio State’s inconsistencies forming into a season-long pattern.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 4-1 straight up and against the spread in their last five road games against the Michigan Wolverines.

Ohio State and MI have faced each other every season since 1918.

Allen also said he noticed a lot of Ohio State players “huddling up by the heaters” after halftime while the Spartans jumped around in excitement.
