Facebook’s newest data centre will be powered entirely by clean energy, the company announced yesterday, as part of its ambition to supply half its data centres with renewable energy by 2018.

In an unusual bit of collaboration between a private and a public school, Texas Christian University and the University of North Texas Health Science Center announced plans Monday to open a medical school together.
Fort Worth will be powered by the 200MW of new wind energy brought by Facebook to the Texas grid as part of the deal.
The Fort Worth facility is needed to store billions of photos and videos hosted by the social network as well as the constant stream of messages and updates that appear.
There will be many eyes on Facebook as it looks to keep costs down at the upcoming Fort Worth data center while keeping the temperatures down at the site. “Facebook is one of the great high-tech companies of the 21st century”, he said.

Facebook is committed to at least 40 positions under terms of the incentives, but they say that figure could go higher than that. And to avoid interruptions, these companies are also required to put some cash in the energy sector.
Facebook has confirmed plans to build its fourth US-based data center at a cost of more than $500 million.
He said the ability to build the wind generator farm was important in Facebook’s location decision. “Texas has been the leading exporting state in the United States of America for 13 years running”.
Some areas dipped far lower, and not just in rural swaths: Southeast Dallas has just 54 physicians per 100,000 residents, while southwest Dallas has 36.
