The Office Suite for Mac includes a new Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and OneNote. All of the apps have been optimized for Mac users, including support for multitouch gestures, Retina displays and full-screen capabilities.

Office 2016 for Mac will bet getting an official wide release in September, at which point the software will begin receiving updates at least once every quarter.

Prior to this, Office 365 for the Mac was released as a Preview for Mac users, where according to Microsoft it was met with rather high approval from its users.

Office 2016 for Mac is available to anyone with a valid Office 365 subscription, including Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal, or Office 365 ProPlus.

For spreadsheets, the new version brings a “Advised Charts” feature from Windows.

Numerous changes in Office for Mac are down to feedback from Microsoft’s intrepid beta testers, reflecting the institutional shift towards a customer-centred business, as apparent in the forthcoming Windows 10. OneNote was designed for online collaboration, living in OneDrive and now updated with a proper integrated app for Mac. But Microsoft’s argument is that, with Office, your work is connected and stored in the cloud-available on basically whatever platform you wish.

Office 2016 for Mac comes after a record-breaking customer participation turnout during the preview. “Office 2016 for Mac is now available in 139 countries and 16 languages”.

Microsoft has updated the software seven times to improve its performance and stability, taking all the reports and feedback into account.

We already knew what the new Office for Mac 2016 looked like, although we had been kept waiting for its release. Also new to the Mac is a “propose new time” feature that lets you do just that if someone invites you to a meeting at a time that doesn’t work for you. The interface doesn’t try to fit in with other parts of OS X like the previous version does, but with Office being such a ubiquitous program I appreciate Microsoft keeping the interface mostly the same across all computers, tablets, and smartphones.
