Is Peyton Manning’s Career Over?

Quarterback Peyton Manning #18 of the Denver Broncos crouches on the sidelines during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Sports Authority Field Field at Mile High on November 15, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. The 39-year-old is in the midst of what has been far and away the worst season – from a personal standpoint – of his illustrious 18-year career in the National Football League.

Broncos Head Coach Gary Kubiak announced quarterback Peyton Manning will not play in Sunday’s matchup at the Bears and Brock Osweiler will make the start in Manning’s place.

Manning partially tore his plantar fascia – the connective tissue that supports the arch of your foot – and has suffered from plantar fasciitis for weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Now there is new insight into just how banged up Peyton Manning has been this season. I’m disappointed in myself, this is on me. “I know that’s the best decision for him, to get him back and healthy, and we need to know where we’re heading this week”.

“Bad game, disappointing, made some really bad plays and just put our team in a really bad position”, Manning said. I will try to take advantage of this week and try to get to feeling better and getting healthy. But you didn’t only see Manning get benched from a football game. Of course, no player is ever happy about being benched, but this might be the best thing for Manning right now. With that being said, there are several positives that could come from this situation.

But the rumors have been mounting for some time that the Denver Broncos are ready to transition to Brock Osweiler. So why shouldn’t he play the twin roles of advertising symbol and father by providing a pizza party to Osweiler and company after victories to celebrate, courtesy of Papa John’s? Osweiler will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent when his rookie contract of roughly $3.5 million expires.

Nobodys sure when Manning will return to action, but Osweiler is only looking at this as a spot start. If Osweiler does start [redacted], the next question will be whether Manning is considered healthy enough to dress as the backup. And let’s not pretend it was Manning winning games for the Broncos this year. We believe that scenario is highly unlikely, but hey, we also never thought we would see Manning get pulled from a game.

The Broncos have the rare luxury of turning a necessity into their favor. No team had scored as many points or gained as many yards. Anderson opened the season as the starter, but he has been inconsistent this year and that has given Hillman the chance to step up.

The rumors surrounding the Denver Broncos may not be clear for some time.

Most of the cheers were likely orange-and-blue faithful sarcastically excited that they didn’t have to watch another quarter of Peyton Manning’s miserable day.
