Matthew Stafford sets Lions Thanksgiving record as Lions roll Eagles

Of course, Schefter has to be feeling better after the Eagles were beaten, 45-14, by the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving at Ford Field. After forcing a three-and-out on the Lions’ opening drive, the Eagles defense surrendered five touchdowns and a field goal without getting a single stop on Detroit’s next six possessions.

Is it time for Chip Kelly to go?

“I was looking forward to playing against Jason Peters, because he’s such a great player, but he got hurt and they moved Lane from right tackle to left tackle”, he said. “It’s a lot easier to deal with the Eagles when you’ve got a lot of rest between series”. The Lions won the game by a score of 34-9. Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah creates havoc for opposing quarterbacks, and already has eight sacks this season.

“Probably as complete a victory as we’ve had around here”, Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. Kelly said yes (see more from Kelly here). We really have to figure out what the problem is and correct it because I can’t take an embarrassment like this.

“I don’t think they’re trying to prove a point or anything”, he said. Quandre Diggs and Nevin Lawson are at their best when they can be physical, and that’s exactly how Austin has deployed them. “We need to get ready to go play the New England Patriots in New England”. “When you win convincingly like we won today it makes it extra sweet”. And we will. But the guys are fighting.

The hole is an abyss.

Meanwhile, quarterback Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes in the first half to give Detroit control of the game early. The two got heated, but Kelly downplayed the situation to the media this week. During that quarter, the Lions had the ball for 12 minutes, 44 seconds. Matthews totaled three receptions for a team-high 60 yards in the loss. This is the second time in the last month activists have breached an National Football League game after two people suspended themselves from an overhang at Bank of America Stadium during a Panthers game last month to protest fracking. I still think Philly can win this game, but either way, it should be a close one.

Kelly said defensive coordinator Bill Davis will remain in that role, and he said he feels his players are still competing.

Despite the Eagles giving up 45 points in consecutive games, safety Malcolm Jenkins still believes he and his teammates are giving full effort.
