Facebook’s New News Feed: See Best Friends’ Updates First

News feed preferences can be found by tapping “more” in the bottom right corner of the Facebook iOS app and then choosing “settings”. Click on the box that says “following” and select “see 1st”.

Users can select now among friends, of which they want to see all content posted on Facebook without omissions. Well, getting added to a user’s “See First” list guarantees all your page posts will appear at the top of a user’s News Feed with a blue star.

The social network does not share who you’ve starred, so worry not if you’ve, you know, starred all of your ex-boyfriends.

It took Facebook a few years to implement their Follow/Unfollow function we now have today, and today’s launch of Facebook See First is another move towards improving the social network’s user experience. Users can scroll down to see the rest of their News Feed normally.

In its new strategy, Facebook will not show any ads on the see first results.

Unfollowing a friend, page or group’s posts has now been made easier.

Facebook’s News Feed uses information about your friends and commenting activity to cater to your interests – but it often misses the mark. So, it obviously matters what you see on your News Feed first.

In announcing the new tools Thursday, Facebook acknowledged that its automated system is not excellent, so it wants to give customers a way to set their personal preferences.

There are also sections for refollowing pages you’ve unfollowed (maybe it was an accident, or you did it in a fit of rage?) and a tab to discover new pages, which mimics the Suggested Pages sections seen elsewhere on Facebook.

If that isn’t precaution enough, Facebook now makes it easy to unfollow him, so his updates won’t appear in your feeds. “Our goal is to help you connect with the people and things you care about the most, and this is another step in that direction”.

The product manager stated that this new tool is already being rolled out to Apple device users and will be available for Android users soon.
