First Baptist Church collected more than 3,000 full shoe boxes in the drive. “Anyone can participate and bring joy to a child facing hard circumstances”, said Randy Riddle, director of Operation Christmas Child in the United States.
“Instead of him getting Christmas, he wants to give it to other children”, Rachel said.
Filled with small toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene items, the boxes represent hope to millions.
Every box includes toys such as dolls and bears, colouring kits, candies and toiletries – with the parcels being given out to children aged between two and 14 years old.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an global Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham.
