President Obama Pardons TOTUS: The Turkey Of The United States
Eating turkeys on Thanksgiving goes back pretty far, but presidents pardoning turkeys is actually a recent tradition.

Voting was held by the National Turkey Federation for America to weigh in on which turkey would be the official pardoned bird, and which would be the alternate.
Malia and Sasha Obama have definitely learned their lessons during Thanksgiving 2014 when they were heavily criticized in social media for their rolled eyes and bored looks while participating in the White House’s traditional annual pardon of the turkey.
Obama declared: “Abe is now a free bird”.
The Bill upholds a ban on transferring prisoners from Gitmo to the United States. The names of the turkeys were chosen from submissions from California school children.
It is a little puzzling that I do this every year but I will say that I enjoy it, because with all the tough stuff that swirls around in this office, it’s nice once in a while to just say, ‘Happy Thanksgiving.’
“We will not let up, adjusting our tactics where necessary, until they are beaten”, Obama said, reports Fox News. “And I’m sure the press is digging into whether or not the turkeys I’ve pardoned have really re-dedicated their lives to being good turkey citizens”. Malia, like her sister Sasha, also accessorized her outfit with black leggings, a pair of ivory ankle socks and boots.
“Thanksgiving is a day for food and football, and hoping the turkey didn’t turn out too dry”, he said in his weekly address on Thursday.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said Obama’s approval of the NDAA “reaffirms longstanding prohibitions on the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees to the United States”. “Yes. Simas, is he attacking you?” He said of this daughters that “They do this exclusively because it makes me feel good. Are you okay? My political director is getting pecked by TOTUS”. Last 2014, Malia and Sasha were criticized by a former Republican staffer for looking bored and uninterested in the Turkey Pardon.
Less seriously, Obama noted that one of the turkeys got very close to White House aide David Simas.

Livingston-based Foster Farms provided the turkeys for the second time; the poultry giant first took part in the ceremony five years ago.
