55-cr wedding for NRI’s daughter in Kerala
The event also saw performances of various artists from Malyalam film industry including Manju Warrier’s Kuchipudi, Sobhana’s Bharatanatyam and Sita Kalyanam and Stephen Devassy’s fusion music. With a net worth of $2.8 billion, Ravi Pillai was ranked first among the richest Keralites in a survey conducted by TOI in June.

Pillai’s business empire spans 26 companies with over 80,000 employees. “Besides conducting my daughter’s marriage in a good manner, I am also spending around Rs 10 crore for humanitarian initiatives”. It has been designed by art director Sabu Cyril of “Baahubali” fame, reports Manoramaonline.
As far as the guest list goes, some of the most well-known names graced the occasion with their presence such as CEOs of Japan Gas Corporation, family members from royal lineages of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and movie stars Mohanlal and Mammootty.
Thiruvanantapuram: While Kerala Women’s Commission is requesting the government to take steps to make people see reason and cut down on wedding expenditure, NRI Ravi Pillai of the same state got his daughter married in grand style spending a whopping Rs. 55 Cr on the wedding.
“The design is unique for this event. But it’s largely modelled on the royal palaces of Rajasthan”, said Cyril, who was the production designer for “Bahubali”. The palace in Baahubali was spread across five acres. While Cyril had to work for two-and-half years for building the “Bahubali” set, it took him close to 75 days to create the Rajasthani ambience in Kollam.

The extravaganza is as such that Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Bahrain royal family landed on Wednesday by Chartered flights. The security detail at the wedding included around 250 policemen and 350 private detail cops.
