Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Su-24 plane was downed on Tuesday by an air-to-air missile launched by a Turkish F-16 jet over Syrian territory, falling 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the Turkish border.

“The downing of an unidentified jet in Turkish airspace was not – and is not – an act against a specific country”, he said.
The local news channel TRT Haber quoted Erdogan as saying November 26 that Russian Federation itself should ask forgiveness from Turkey.
Most of the audio is garbled and barely comprehensible but the tone of the voice gets more agitated as the warnings appear to go unnoticed.
Erdogan said it was not the first time Russian jets had breached Turkish air space and that he had warned Putin about “ugly incidents” after two incursions in October. Turkey insists the plane was in its airspace for 17 seconds.
Russian Federation has vowed to carry out broad retaliatory measures against Turkey’s economy to avenge the downing of its warplane by Turkey earlier this week.
He claimed that the Russian air raids did not target the Islamic State group.
Putin made the statement Thursday after talks with visiting French President Francois Hollande.
“We are strategic partners” with Russian Federation, he said. He said he regretted the fact that relations between Turkey and Russian Federation have been driven into a stalemate.
“Russia is obliged to prove its allegations, otherwise it will be considered a liar because of those grave and unfair accusations targeting Turkey”.

The checks on all supplies coming into Russian Federation from Turkey means that while imports will continue, they could be significantly delayed.
