Arkansas bounces No. 9 LSU

“Any time (defensive coordinator Robb Smith) and that staff has that much time to kind of stew on things, I knew they’d respond very, very well”. The attitude we’re going to breed.

But LSU didn’t show much progress on that side of the ball against Arkansas.

The Arkansas Razorbacks came into week 11 as 7 1/2 point underdogs against a LSU team that lost 30-16 at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide and kept Heisman trophy candidate Leonard Fournette to only 31 yards rushing the previous week.

“They didn’t really expect it. I got around the corner and saw there was nobody there and was like ‘Oh my God, ‘” Cornelius said. “I take the discredit here”, Miles said. “This was mine. This was absolutely my fault”. I think the kids played their hearts out. “Just took guys a while to keep coming along and believe they were the guys”.

“This was not fun”, Fournette said.

A sweep? In theory, Arkansas could end up in the Sugar Bowl again, but would need help (losses) from other teams in the Southeastern Conference. In hard times you see what type of man you are. “I think we’re closer in special teams”. That after the Tigers entered the Alabama game No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in the SEC with 309 yards a game. Ole Miss has the signature win over Alabama but their loss to Arkansas in their last game makes a trip to the SEC Championship Game unlikely.

Harris attempted 35 passes, completing 21 for 271 yards and one touchdown.

Just a couple weeks ago, LSU was ranked No. 2 in the first College Football Playoff rankings, but its reputation has gone south in a hurry. Not only is Fournette barely seeing any space, but a defense that had only managed 8 sacks all year coming in to the game, managed to get 5 sacks on Harris tonight.

There is no doubt last Saturday night’s victory at LSU was a standout victory for Bielema’s program as it fights its way toward national relevance.

No. 14 Michigan State 24, Maryland 7: Connor Cook left the game at halftime with an apparent shoulder injury, putting a bit of a damper on the Spartans’ (9-1, 5-1 Big Ten) victory, with a showdown with Ohio State looming next week.

They also have a glimmer of hope regarding an SEC title.

Jordan Cronkrite had a 3-yard TD run and a 41-yard scoring pass from Treon Harirs in the first half.

Arkansas RB Alex Collins ran for an 80-yard touchdown.

The LSU offense started to gain traction before the half, with Brandon Harris leading his team 92 yards in three minutes and 22 seconds. He added a 5-yard touchdown run for the 21-0 lead with 3:55 to go in the second quarter.

No. 19 Florida State 34, North Carolina State 17: Sean Maguire came off the bench to rally the Seminoles (8-2, 6-2 ACC), who trailed 17-7 in the second quarter, past the Wolfpack. The Rebels were open Saturday after losing 53-52 in overtime at home to Arkansas last week on two unfortunate plays at the end. Arkansas would also have the same SEC record as both teams, but has a worse divisional record and is out of contention in the event of a three-way tie.

Later, Arkansas forced an LSU turnover, and then the offense took advantage two plays later, when Collins scored on his second rushing touchdown of the game, this one from 5 yards away, ending a short 11-yard drive, to make it 21-unanswered points, and a 21-0 Razorback edge.
