Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pies have become an Internet sensation, thanks to an enthusiastic video review of the pie that was posted online by a Los Angeles-based hairdresser/entertainer named James Wright.

As a result, the pies that cost $3.48 each in stores have been going for $40 apiece on eBay. One shopper who has tried the pie said it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

“B*tch, I turned into Patti”, he said.

Walmart says they don’t know when they’ll get any more pies in stock. Patti and James are together at Patti’s home in Philly, and they’re singing up a storm. In a new interview, while the singer still insists that her pie had already been “doing really really well, my new friend did this fierce video and it took the pie over the top and people are losing their minds over the pie”.

The pies subsequently sold out, and Labelle invited Wright Chanel over for one of her legendary Thanksgivings, because sometimes good things do happen to good people.

The rest of her spread includes three big briskets, macaroni with lobster and shrimp, a plain macaroni and cheese for those with shellfish allergies, potato salad, 20 bunches of kale, four heads of cabbage, a green salad with arugula and cilantro, candied yams, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, leg of lamb, ribs, and of course her famous sweet potato pies!

“You give love to people who give you love”, she continued.

Perhaps LaBelle will find it in her heart to cut Wright a much-deserved check as well.
