The Red Devils played out a disappointing goalless draw with PSV Eindhoven at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as Louis van Gaal’s side wasted the chance to book their place in the Champions League knockout stage.

Van Gaal’s side have drawn 0-0 in four of their past seven games, having only scored six times in eight games.

Then, on whether United’s young players feel able to go to Van Gaal and tell him that he’s not getting the best out of them.

“I have good and bad memories of facing Ranieri”. Today, we could have scored at least three goals.

“They are human beings and also the opponent, how they play the game and how they defend or attack and the reason, the real reason you never know”.

“I can not say every game in the interview with you that we didn’t finish but it is the truth”.

‘We are still not lucky in finishing the chances.

The Manchester United boss will point to the position United now occupy in the Premier League (second) as justification of his philosophy, but there is an ever-growing angered minority/majority (depending on who you speak to) who feel the manager needs to change his ways or go.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I thought it was a cheap shot, to be honest”.

“Given that the Man United hierarchy looked beyond the man’s CV, they knew they were getting a manager who played a precise, possession-based game”.

Asked at a news conference on Friday if he felt Leicester, who lead United by one point at the top of the table, could win the title, Van Gaal responded: “It is possible, I think”. “I think it would have been easier to secure qualification tonight when we had the chance”.

“We have won our home match against Wolfsburg, so why can’t we win in Wolfsburg?”

In October, Van Gaal also blasted Martial after he handled the ball in the box gifting CSKA Moscow a goal during their champions league encounter. “And we have to do that also in the Champions League”.
