Two Palestinians killed in latest West Bank violence

Israeli state radio, quoting army officials, said one of the two was shot dead after attempting to stab an Israeli soldier at a roadblock.

A Palestinian was shot and killed during clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank on Thursday, the Palestinian health ministry said.

The attack occurred in the Israeli-occupied West Bank at a road junction near a cluster of Palestinian villages and Jewish settlements. The attacker was shot and killed during the attack, police said.

An Israeli official said Netanyahu complained to Kerry about alleged Palestinian incitement and said any confidence-building gestures for the Palestinians would first require calm.

Israeli authorities are planning to annex the Jordan Valley into a completely Israeli area, primarily in agriculture, targeting to ban territorial contiguity between a future Palestinian state and the rest of the Arab world, according to Wafa News.

Palestinians seek the recognition of their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, partially occupied by Israel, as well as in the Gaza Strip.

“The U.S. government has never defended or supported Israeli settlements and activity associated with them, and by extension, does not pursue policies that would legitimize them”, Toner said.
