Musician Kid Rock has flatly denied a demand from Al Sharpton’s National Action Network to denounce the Confederate flag, which he has in the past used as a backdrop for his shows.

The flag he flew was 4 feet by 6 feet, far smaller than the American flag above it, which he claims is the largest in Florida.

Jerry says the flag represents history, not hate. Starting with Haley’s remarkable display of leadership less than a week after the murders, the state moved with urgent decisiveness to remove the divisive symbol on the Statehouse grounds.

The Confederate battle flag had flown at the Capitol for more the five decades after being raised to honor the 100-year anniversary of the Civil War, which started at Fort Sumter in Charleston. “So next time, are they going to take that monument down?”

Now, the organizations that had imposed economic boycotts on South Carolina for flying the flag are reevaluating their stance on the state after its removal.

“I look forward to the citizens of South Carolina being one under one flag, the American flag”, he said.

The nationwide board of administrators of outstanding US civil rights group the NAACP voted on Saturday to end its 15-year boycott of South Carolina prompted by the show of the Confederate battle flag on state capitol grounds.
