Loss makes game more important
Considering Elliott has been arguably the most consistent running back in the nation – well, until last contest – you would think that wouldn’t be too hard (side note: Elliott only had 33 rushing yards against MSU). “We do not condone that”, Meyer said during his weekly news conference Monday. “It really is”, Purdue coach Darrell Hazell said. “I couldn’t disagree with him”. And, it will not be a surprise if Harbaugh slips Jabrill Peppers on the field for a lot of snaps on offense to get him the ball and to use him as a decoy. “That wasn’t the place for it”. Tackle Taylor Decker and defensive end Joey Bosa – a pair of future first-round NFL Draft picks – took turns answering questions about Elliott in a two-hour session afterward. “He spoke his mind after the game”, he said.

“It was so long ago”, he said with a wry smile.
“I am sorry for all those offended by the statements made by me Saturday after OUR loss”, Elliott Tweeted. Elliott publicly apologized for his comments in a tweet, saying he had been “caught up in emotions”: Elliott also clarified that Saturday’s loss did not have an effect on his decision to leave Ohio State after the season. Elliott’s frustration boiled over and the Buckeyes will regroup in time for a game against MI in Ann Arbor.
Center Jacoby Boren said playing the Wolverines is more important than Elliott’s comments and that the loss to Michigan State doesn’t change anything. He pronounced himself healthy from a hospital stay earlier in the week to clear up an infection on his lower right leg. But he agreed the forum wasn’t the right one.
“I am not leaving because we lost that game”. “He said what was on his heart”. “That would be a failure”, Bosa said.
Elliott, a junior, was considered a lock to enter the National Football League draft even before the Michigan State loss. We’ll have some momentum, we’ll call some plays that work, and then we kind of try to get away from it, try to get cute and run some other stuff….
As you might expect, OH and MI topped the local ratings with Columbus (42.0), Dayton (30.7), Cleveland (28.5), Detroit (26.0), and Cincinnati (17.9) making up the Top 5.
Michigan State managed to upset Ohio State without its star quarterback, but now Spartans fans have to wait out another week without knowing whether Cook can contribute.
The Spartans completed one pass in the second half, but they ran for 203 on 51 attempts and gave Geiger a chance to win it with 3 seconds left by churning out 25 yards on their last drive. “Most selfless player – one of the most selfless players I’ve ever coached and been around”.
Meyer said he has “a three-year bank” with Elliott and won’t hold the criticism against him.

Meyer said he would have welcomed a conversation in private with Elliott about his carries, but the way Michigan State was crowding the line of scrimmage factored into the play-calling. “That’s why I always like to decompress for at least a few minutes, because I’ve said some things I’m not very proud of”.
