CBS Denver reports that one officer was shot in the hand.

It was not clear whether there were any fatalities and authorities said it would be premature to speculate on the suspect’s motive.

“We do not know the extent of their injury”.

A witness told KKTV he was going into King Sooper grocery story when he heard a gunshot fly over his head from Planned Parenthood and hit a stop sign behind him.

The man, reportedly armed with an AK-47, is believed to still be inside the Colorado Springs clinic.

She says civilians and four officers were wounded in the attack.

Additionally, the police spokeswoman admitted that neighboring businesses still had people inside of them and said that there is a possibility that the gunman has taken hostages. An unknown number of civilians have been injured.

Despite the Thanksgiving holiday, the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic was open on Friday, and, according to the scanner, police were attempting to verify the location of at least 12 people as the situation unfolded.

UPDATE: CNN reports that police are still in the process of taking down the shooter. A dispatcher said one patient was wounded at Elite Vision on Centennial Blvd. “It is a very fluid situation”.

“We’re not sure what the connection is to Planned Parenthood, but that was the original address we received for the call for service”, Buckley said.

A leasing consultant at nearby Camelback Point Apartment Homes who declined to give his full name, told BuzzFeed that his office was on lockdown after receiving calls from their security company and from many residents.

Ambulances and police vehicles were lined up at the nearby intersection and police told people via Twitter to stay away from the shooting scene because it was not secure.

Colorado Springs mayor John Suthers said police were able to make contact with the suspect, who then gave himself up. “It is an ongoing situation”.
