Match points: Tottenham v Chelsea

The Blues skipper hasn’t trained with the squad this week but Jose Mourinho is not ruling out the defender playing at White Hart Lane.

Mourinho is suitably impressed by Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Over the last week, Chelsea have won two matches out of two but the match against Tottenham will proof a tougher test.

Mourinho suggested Chelsea’s fatigue following Tuesday’s game in Israel and a journey only marginally shorter than Spurs’ was challenging.

“I told him, from a distance, with gestures, that I was not happy with the movement he did”, Mourinho said. The manager is good, the players are good. “Players are good. Good stability, playing well, a very, very good team”. They are reaching consistency in their results and performances and a win could finish off Chelsea’s aspirations of making the Champions League. He has moulded the team in his image and Spurs have not lost a Premier League game since an opening day defeat to Manchester United.

“For John to leave the pitch with the score at 1-0, I know already that he’s in trouble”. “The objective is gone now”. “We have good feelings for each other”. We need to eat well, sleep well, recover and do the right things.

England midfielder Alli serves a one-match ban after collecting his fifth booking of the season against West Ham last weekend.

Mourinho’s side head to White Hart Lane after keeping two confidence-boosting clean sheets, first in last weekend?s victory over Norwich City and then in the midweek Champions League success at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Tottenham’s consistency has been in stark contrast to Chelsea’s, who are looking to claim a third successive win for just the second time this season. The Spaniard came off the back of a prolific season with Atletico Madrid and hit it off in the Premier League rightaway, scoring 21 goals in all competitions in his first season. “The reality is that we need points”.

‘We are confident, we have to keep going and try to get the three points’.

Midfield: Ramires is also a doubt after suffering a muscle injury while warming up prior to the Tel Aviv game so Cesc Fabregas is likely to continue alongside Nemanja Matic in the centre of the park. From a manager who operates under forensic examination, this was an attempt to put some of that pressure back on to Tottenham.
