Starting pitcher J.A. Happ has signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, the club announced Friday evening.

Happ went 19-20 with a 4.39 ERA in 58 games, including 50 starts, over 2 1/2 seasons with the Blue Jays.
The turnaround came after he was traded to the Pirates in the last few hours before the deadline.
However, Happ was traded again in July to the Pittsburgh Pirates in an effort to help them make a playoff push and the starter was able to put up seven wins and two losses helping the team make the post-season. He struck out 69 in 63 1/3 innings.
Happ, 33, was great for the Pittsburgh Pirates after coming over from the Mariners.
Searage saw Happ using inefficient movement in his delivery.
This is just the latest reminder of how high salaries are going right now – remember, this was the sort of dollar figure that people were suggesting Yovani Gallardo, a younger, better pitcher, might take to stay in Texas beyond the 2015 season.
The Blue Jays had Happ on their roster from 2012-2014.
There’s also the option of moving youngster Aaron Sanchez into the rotation.

Happ was nothing more than a back of the rotation starter during his time with the Mariners a year ago but upon a trade to the Pirates turned things on.
