Unnamed sources said told Bloomberg that Amazon will also sell prepackaged bundles of its own creation. Customers can also purchase new-release movies and TV shows from the Amazon Video store to watch in-flight.

Additionally, Amazon will feature videos from its programming partners on Prime, and build individual landing pages for each service so subscribers can differentiate between Amazon’s videos and those of its partners.

Those on-demand networks will now be available in one place.

Amazon declined to comment on the Bloomberg story.

The hope is that adding more, exclusive original streaming in Amazon Prime will pull in more exclusive customers. JetBlue will get a rich source of quality content to deliver to its customers for free; and Amazon will enjoy additional sales, from flyers opting to buy or rent videos, and benefit from another selling point in marketing its Prime service.

The move would certainly set Amazon apart from rival services like Hulu and Netflix.

Amazon is banking big on the fact that having the Top Gear trio on its service will lure some new subscribers, but it must do a lot more than that to keep people tuned in.

In July, Consumer Intelligence Research Partners estimated that Prime had 44 million members.

The company is already ahead in the competition with Hulu and Netflix as it offers TV services via its Fire TV which competes against Apple TV and Roku. Meanwhile, any deal with media channels will be a potential blow to Fire TV’s direct competitor, Apple Inc. You have access to better shipping options and other features offered by the website, like music and video streaming via Prime Instant Video.

Though the companies haven’t disclosed the details of their business arrangement, it’s implied that Amazon is helping subsidize the cost of the free broadband by nature of this agreement.
