Giants’ Larry Donnell: Says he won’t play for a while
Donnell had 29 receptions in eight games before suffering the injury against the New Orleans Saints.

“I prepared myself to be ready to play”, said Nicks, who caught 38 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns past year for the Colts, but was unemployed for the first 10 weeks of this season after he was cut late in the summer by the Titans. But while he said he feels fine and is experiencing no discomfort at all, a recent MRI on his neck had the Giants’ medical staff concerned enough to hold him out of practice on Wednesday and likely sit him against Washington on Sunday.
“We thought it was just spasms and a strain”, Donnell told the New York Daily News. Donnell, 27, hopes he can return before the end of the season, but head coach Tom Coughlin was less optimistic.

Larry Donnell (neck) said it will be a while before he is able to play again, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports. The Giants are left with Will Tye and Jerome Cunningham at tight end. So we’ve just got to figure it out and see what the process is. Thomas, who is getting over a high ankle sprain, is on track to be back in the starting lineup Sunday, though it remains to be seen if he’ll split reps with Jonathan Casillas or if Thomas will take his full game-day reps. Another Redskins cornerback, Bashaud Breeland, is questionable after missing practice because of a fever.
