Chelsea’s Mourinho wants more from Costa

Mourinho was furious two seasons ago, when Chelsea had to play both legs of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid and travel to Liverpool in the space of nine days.

Simon Brotherton: “Tottenham look more impressive with every passing week, but this will be a real test of their top-four credentials against opponents they have rarely beaten in recent years”.

“Nobody speaks about them as title contenders like they speak about [Manchester] City, [Manchester] United, this and that”.

Pochettino says he is happy to see big clubs take an interest in Kane but has laughed off the suggestion he could join Chelsea, claiming he wants to remain in north London.

Tottenham’s good run continued with a 1-0 win over Qarabag on Thursday to progress through to the Europa League knockout phase.

“They go smoothly, step by step”.

“I think the senior players and the young players that come through the academy can help us in the very busy period we have ahead”.

“We have only one day”. We have great facilities, so need to use them. “And good players, which they have, and the conditions too”. “I find the people and the chairman have a very good philosophy”.

We are in a good position in the table but, like with last season, the most important thing is to finish higher.

“But I know the players and the managers have the ability to change this”. “That’s why, in a fundamental match for us on Tuesday, I left Zouma out after good performances to play Gary and show Gary that confidence”.

Mourinho said: ”Maccabi deserved better than 4-0″.

I am still not convinced by Chelsea, although they have won their last couple of games.

Kane and Diego Costa are two of the most talked about strikers in the Premier League.

However, any thoughts that the Blues were fully operational again were quashed when the club squeezed by a 10-man Maccabi Tel-Aviv in unconvincing fashion.

He also explained that the spat was because, he wanted Costa to “do a certain movement that he didn’t do” and that he was “disappointed” because of this.

“He told me also a few nice words from where he was, and nothing happened”.

“He’s not reading the game properly”. That was my opinion. Just a question of reading the game faster. “It will be a process”.

John Terry could feature despite sustaining an ankle injury in Israel and missing training on Friday. “Today he didn’t train but we have a little hope that it is possible”.
