The banner previously flew in Epcot’s American Adventure theater, where guests saw it amongst 40 other flags as part of its animatronic-featured edu-tainment show on American history.
As legislators in South Carolina debated whether to eject the Confederate battle flag from the statehouse grounds, Walt Disney World took similar action.
I disagree with that portion of letter writer Charles Clark’s article that stated the Confederate flag is not a flag of racial disparity, and should be respected and allowed in our society.
As the Confederate battle flag continues to dominate the news, with some government officials pulling it down and others stringing it back up, it’s worth a quick history lesson. The flag could be removed as early as Friday. Warner Bros. also announced it was halting the licensing of General Lee toys and models with the flag. This flag was adopted by the Confederate states as they attempted to guarantee the rights to their way of life. The flag appears at a total of “131 VA facilities around the country” on those two days. The Confederate Congress added a vertical red strip along the white edge of the Second National Flag, calling it the “Blood-Stained Banner”.

The removal of the Confederate flag from Epcot comes one day after a statue of Bill Cosby was removed from Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
