Serena beats Muguruza to win sixth Wimbledon singles title
Three down, one to go.

Williams danced the jig of the greatest women’s star of all time after sweeping past 21-year-old Muguruza to her 21st grand slam crown. Serena won the gold medal in singles at London in 2012. She has won WTA Tour events large and small. There was Maureen Connolly from the United States in 1953, Margaret Court from Australia in 1970 and Steffi Graf from Germany in 1988.
Two months shy of her 34th birthday, Williams has a stranglehold over the rest of the field. “So many people were clapping and to know I made them feel that way was very special”.
But she has endured like few athletes in any sport, and at 33, she is in the midst of the most extended stretch of excellence of her career.
“It’s super exciting. I just knew I wanted to win Wimbledon this year”.
“I just thought, Oh, man, I’ve won New York three times in a row”.
“I feel like if I can do the Serena Slam, I will be okay heading into the (calendar) Grand Slam“.
By the way, this is the second time that Williams has notched four consecutive Grand Slam titles. “I think that says a lot about her and her future”.
“I think if the crowd helps her, it’s going to be a plus”, her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou said, according to CNN.
“It’s hard to concentrate, you’re thinking “she’s won this five times this””, she said.
Finally able to compose herself, Williams broke in the next game to seal yet another success. Serena looked in trouble in the opening set, trailing Muguruza 4-2 before bouncing back to win it.
“I’ve won the last three US Opens so maybe this is the year I miss out”. She only converted 54% of her first serves, double faulted eight times.
It eventually dawned on her that she had clinched the title and she raised her arms to the sky before embracing Muguruza.
Williams grabbed the attention of her 6th Wimbledon and 21street Grand Slam diadem utilizing a 6-4, 6-4 beat Spain’s Garbine Muguruza.
It was over so suddenly that Williams seemed surprised, unsure of what to do next-as if this were not her twenty-first major championship but her first. You started the year at Australia at the end of December and you ended it at the beginning of December in New York, so at least now, they get a little bit of a break.
However, serving for the match with 5-1 and then 5-3 leads, she was gripped by a bad case of nerves and Muguruza broke twice to prolong the contest.
A wild, wide forehand from Williams handed Muguruza a break back, allowing the Spaniard a reprieve. She has played 40 matches in 2015, and lost exactly one of them – a semifinal on clay to Petra Kvitova in Madrid, where Williams was likely looking for some relief from a packed schedule. “She serves well, she hits quite flat, takes the ball early, is aggressive”, he said. It’s not very often that Williams loses grand slam finals: She improved to 21-4, last tasting defeat at the 2011 U.S. Open against Samantha Stosur.

She duly completed the job against Garbine Muguruza 6-4 6-4 to claim the “Serena Slam” and will head to the U.S. Open bidding to become only the third woman to win the Grand Slam in the professional era. “You’ll be holding one of these [trophies] soon”. I’ve kind of solidified my place at No.1.
