Chicago Blackhawks Vs. Anaheim Ducks

Like many Hawks fan, I would love to see Toews drop the likes of Ryan Kesler or Joe Thornton or David Backes. Los Angeles will attempt to avenge a 4-2 loss at Chicago on November 2, a game in which the Blackhawks scored three unanswered goals in the third period to snap the Kings’ seven-game winning streak.

The Blackhawks haven’t been successful on the road of late and will travel to Anaheim to take on the Ducks today at 5:00PM ET.

Patrick Kane assisted on Keith’s goal to extend his point streak to 18 games, tying Phil Kessel and Eddie Olczyk for the longest run by an American-born player.

The Ducks started fast and scored the only goal of the opening period on a 2-on-0 breakaway that winger Andrew Cogliano finished off at the 1:02 mark. League leaders on the penalty kill, the Ducks gave up nothing once again, though the Hawks got some better looks this time around. “We can play really good on certain occasions and the next night we don’t play almost as well”, Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters. After a few good scoring chances on both ends, Anisimov found room to skate with the puck down the left side and beat Gibson with a pinpoint wrist shot 1:53 into overtime.

The Ducks won that game, but lost in overtime in Games 2 and 4, and were blown out in Game 7. The third-year goalie has been with the San Diego Gulls throughout the season but was needed when Frederik Andersen came down with the flu. Seabrook bumped center Ryan Kesler off the puck near the left boards, but Anaheim defenseman Hampus Lindholm secured it in the slot and passed to Stewart, who fired a wrist shot near the right post for his fourth goal of the saason. He was asked about needing to be particularly careful closing out a game against Chicago.

Chicago’s comeback on Friday was nothing short of remarkable.

Pivotal performer: Chicago’s Duncan Keith scored with 27 seconds left in regulation to tie the score. He was moments away from losing the streak and the game, but Chicago and the streak survived.

The Detroit Red Wings edged the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in overtimes thanks to Niklas Kronwall. Chicago learned its lesson and made sure that didn’t happen again on Friday, as the Blackhawks generated an early opportunity in overtime before Anisimov was able to bank in the game-winner by Gibson. This is a rematch of the Western Conference finals from last season. The teams will only face each other one more time this season, when they meet back in Chicago in February.
