Suspect charged in death of 9-year-old Chicago boy
Chicago saw 406 murders last year, down from the previous year’s total but still higher than other United States cities with larger populations, such as NY and Los Angeles.

Tyshawn’s body was found not far from his home on Chicago’s South Side on November 2. Morgan and the other two suspects are members of a Chicago gang. Morgan was denied bond on Friday, prosecutors said. We’re definitely going to catch you, it’s just a matter of time.
He also vowed that both gang factions involved in Tyshawn’s killing and the other retaliatory slayings and shootings had signed their own “death warrants”.
Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said investigators say “at least” three people were involved with the incident.
Chicago Police Superintendent Gary McCarthy identified shooting suspect Corey Morgan of Lansing, Ill, charging him with first degree murder.
Chicago police spokesman Ron Gaines told CNN about an arrest in connection with the case. He connected it to Tyshawn’s father, who the superintendent said hasn’t helped police “at all” in the case, and at least two other fatal shootings over the previous months.
One man is already in custody on an unrelated gun charge, McCarthy said.
Police had questioned Morgan two days after Tyshawn’s killing, but released him. On Nov. 17 he was charged with an unrelated crime, possession of a firearm by a felon.
One bullet cut through the boy’s right thumb, suggesting he was holding his hands out to block the gunshots, according to an autopsy report. Curd asked. “I’m speechless to what is going on right now”.
The mother was shot and wounded, court papers said.
Morgan also showed up at the police station with an attorney early on in the investigation, but he was not interviewed.
Corey Morgan, who was prior viewed as a “man of enthusiasm” for the situation, was captured and accused of homicide, as indicated by Chicago Police News Affairs.
In denying bail for Morgan, an emotional Judge Peggy Chiampas called him “a predator, stalking his prey” – a little boy stuck in a gang war.

Tyshawn and the individual were seen walking out of the park together. He has a prior conviction for aggravated unlawful use of weapon and was sentenced to two years of probation. He was ordered held on $1 million bail and was later released after posting the required bond.
