Oregon had been considered the frontrunner since it offered six months ago and Winston grew very comfortable with head coach Mark Helfrich and linebackers coach Erik Chinander, as well as assistant Don Pellum. The Ducks also signed four-star linebacker Darrian Franklin as well as three-star linebackers Hunter Kampmoyer and Troy Dye to its 2016 class. He declared a final seven of Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and UCLA, and many believe his final two came down to Ohio State and Oregon.

Four-star athlete Lamar Winston is staying home for college.
“My family won’t miss a game”, Winston said.
“In addition, the 6’3”, 205 lb. athlete will announce his long-awaited program choice near the conclusion of Nike’s flagship camp on July 9th, prompting a perceived domino effect in Oregon’s approach to the rest of the ’15-’16 recruiting cycle. “My mom will be able to see every game”. “Look at Oregon’s roster, Oregon State’s roster”. “They also gave me the best option to get my psychology degree”. In the 2016 class, he ranks 58th in the nation at offensive tackle by Scout.
