Small businesses offer specials for Small Business Saturday

The millions of dollars in revenue they see from visitors and locals doesn’t just act as a driving force keeping them operating, but as business owners put it, it’s a way of maintaining local culture and personality.

Even on Black Friday, shopping small may just be the way to go.

Vedro says small businesses are successful when they take customer feedback and apply it to help each individual shopper find exactly what they’re looking for.

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting local small businesses.

Sales during this year’s Small Business Saturday could exceed $14 billion with consumers willing to pay more to support their local community businesses, CNBC reported. Local businesses say they believe more people are catching onto the idea of buying local and realizing what their city has to offer. “I like the shops and walking outside”, said shopper Shelley Froelich.

Aqua Fedora owner Jenna Mcknight said the strong start to their holiday season is crucial for stores in downtown Wilmington. We’ve priced it, got it out.

American Express isn’t making the incentive widely available this year to cardholders, according to its website.

This year’s Small Business Saturday might not be as good a deal for some people, however. Local shops typically invest far more into their community by using local vendors, employing local people and keeping their profits close to home instead of shipping them to an out-of-town headquarters. “We represent over 200 different artists and craftsman from all around the country, everything is handmade, so that makes it really unique”, Judy said.
