Casey McGehee agrees to deal with Marlins, according to source
To make room for McGehee, the Marlins placed infielder Jeff Baker on the disabled list Friday because of a left intercostal strain. This confirms a report from Andy Slater of 940-AM WINZ, who hears that McGehee will join the Marlins on Friday.

Major league batting leader Dee Gordon hit the first inside-the-park homer in the four-year history of Marlins Park, and the three-run shot helped Miami beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 Tuesday night. The Marlins struck a deal with the third baseman Thursday after McGehee was designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants on June 30.

Upon losing his starting job, McGehee was demoted to the minors and eventually returned to the Giants before batting. He hit just. 213 with two home runs and 11 RBIs while hitting into a league-high 15 double plays in 49 games. He will likely split time with rookie Derek Dietrich at the hot corner, and also has the ability to play first base and pinch-hit for the Marlins.
