Villa not relegation certainties, says Garde
Aston Villa manager Remi Garde on the task of avoiding relegation: “I was not a dreamer [before taking the job]”.

And Garde said: “Before I came I heard we were finished and if we carry on that way it will be over”.
Quique Sanchez Flores says goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes may have suffered a concussion during his side’s 3-2 Premier League win at Aston Villa. We are working hard to prepare for this game.
Villa could not find a third however, and the defeat means they remain without a win in the Premier League since the opening day of the season and they stay bottom of the table. We want to, of course, win this game and we are going to try and do it in the way we want.
Odion Ighalo, an own goal from Alan Hutton and Troy Deeney did the damage for the Hornets, while Micah Richards and Jordan Ayew were on target for a disappointing Villa.
Garde’s predecessor, Tim Sherwood, warned Grealish about his behaviour after the Tenerife incident telling him that he had to “knuckle down”, while Garde had already said he felt the winger was not playing at the level he should be.
“It’s awesome what they are doing different”.
After a massively encouraging display which brought a battling goalless draw with title hopefuls Manchester City, and newfound optimism at Aston Villa was nearly totally eroded by a shambolic effort at Everton last weekend.
The game was stopped for nearly 10 minutes following an injury to Gomes, who collided with team-mate Craig Cathcart when trying to cut out a low Hutton cross.
The Brazilian immediately signalled to referee Lee Mason that he was in distress and was given lengthy treatment on the pitch, including gas and air, before he was taken off on a stretcher.
The former City defender did well to get on the end of a free kick at the far post to head home from close range, though replays showed he was offside in the build-up.

Gomes was taken to a Birmingham hospital but was able to return home with the rest of the squad on the team coach.
